Nebraska PERS Director Resigns
August 9, 2006
Anna Sullivan, director of the $7.2 billion Nebraska Public Employees' Retirement Systems, which administers the State Employees' Retirement System, the County Employees' Retirement System, the Nebraska School Employees' Retirement System, the Nebraska Judge's Retirement System, and the Nebraska State Patrol Retirement System, has announced her resignation.
According to local reports, the resignation comes after an audit found that the system suffered from poor communication between its director, managers, and staff. The findings were revealed the week before the resignation was accepted by the board and subsequently announced.
Sullivan, who has worked for the system for 30 years, will maintain most of her duties until Sept. 30, at which point her resignation is effective.
The board will immediately begin the search for Sullivan's replacement, and
plans to name an interim director on Oct. 1.
Sullivan's future plans are unclear at this point, as she could not be reached for comment.
