NYC Deputy Comptroller Resigns

Horatio Sparkes, deputy comptroller of pensions for the City of New York, will soon part ways with the fund to join California-based private equity firm, The Yucaipa Companies.

He also serves as a trustee of the New York City Employees' Retirement System.
Further details regarding his departure could not be obtained, however, as Sparkes referred all inquiries to the fund's press office, which was unable to comment.
Meanwhile, it could not be determined what his specific role would be at the Yucaipa Companies. Frank Quintero, a spokesman for the firm, did not return calls by press time.

Sparkes was originally hired by New York City Comptroller Bill Thompson in May 2002. Prior to that, he served as the executive director for the New York City Board of Education Retirement System.
