Ohio PERS Names New Director
September 25, 2006
Christopher DeRose has been named executive director of the $73 billion Ohio Public Employees' Retirement System.
He will start Oct. 30.
DeRose joins the fund from the Michigan Retirement Systems where he has served as director and CEO since July 1997. He replaces Lori Fiori-Hacking who resigned from OPERS at the beginning of the year to become executive director of the Minnesota Teachers' Retirement Association (See IMW, 1/24/06).
Liz Boyd, a spokeswoman for Michigan State Governor Jennifer Granholm, said that no plans have been made regarding DeRose's replacement.
"His resignation was just announced," she said. "He has been a very good leader for the state and has built a solid system. We will likely name an interim director first."
